Information for the engaged parent and dedicated educator.
Unfortunately, I was put off of visiting the school when I went on my visit. After observing the classroom for approximately two hours I saw some positive things and some things that were very concerning. When I tried to broach them with the teacher, she said take it up with her supervisor, the principal. It took two months for the principal to get back to me and then she basically told me to mind my own business. If my child was doing well in the class then the other students that were being severely chastised or left to fail were not my concern. Had I had more time, I would have taken it higher up the chain, but my job is very demanding and I haven't been overly pleased with the administrative aspects of two of the three elementary schools my children have attended. The employees at the school board have been both condescending and uncaring. There are many great opportunities, teachers, and administrators throughout PG County schools, but there are also many areas that need marked improvement.
